We baby boomers are probably to blame for the economic crisis. There are too many of us and we represent the biggest consuming group ever. We borrowed to our hearts content and now cry, “uh-oh”. Because we will live way too long, we will be responsible for breaking Social Security and Medicare. But here’s the good news, we can save America from economic disaster. Are Baby Boomers the Key to Economic Recovery?
March 9th, 2010Is There Still an American Dream?
March 7th, 2010I’m a baby boomer. My parents were kids during the Great Depression. They spoke often about their struggles from the Depression through WWII. For them, the thing greater than those terrible times was the great American dream. They dreamed of a better, richer, and happier life. I asked my three 20 something kids to describe the American dream. Suffice it to say their expectations are low. Read the rest of this entry »
Is Anyone Sick of the Healthcare Bill and Reconciliation?
March 5th, 2010The future of healthcare in America now depends on parliamentary procedure. This is the problem with government controlled anything. The word of the day is no longer surgery, healing, or medicine. Healthcare now depends on “reconciliation”. Isn’t it ironic that reconciliation in congress means that democrats must divorce themselves from the republicans on this issue? This stuff makes me sick! Read the rest of this entry »
Should Granny Have A Gun?
March 3rd, 2010My favorite show as a kid was “The Beverly Hillbillies”. I identified with Jethro because I too was a “poor mountaineer” and could never get enough to eat. In the rural community of my childhood everyone had guns and there was no gun control issue. I now live near Chicago where guns are illegal. The Supreme Court may change that soon. Want More Excuses For Charlie Rangel?
March 1st, 2010Charlie Rangel, New York Congressman from Harlem, is the typical politician. He just got spanked by the House Ethics Committee for letting corporations pay his way to a Caribbean conference. After the announcement, Nancy Pelosi stood by him, excusing his actions saying he was ignorant of where the money came from. CharlieĀ has additional problems but his friends are providing plenty of excuses. I want to add some, too. Read the rest of this entry »
What is the Forgotten Healthcare Issue?
February 26th, 2010I watched President Obama’s health summit for as long as I could. I didn’t see beer so I assume it was a water and lunch summit. During periods of boredom I would search online as each politician would give their talking points. Did you know that every state has a department to regulate and control the health insurance industry? Read the rest of this entry »
Is There an Exit Strategy in the Healthcare Plan?
February 23rd, 2010A healthcare plan is going to be passed. Obama’s future depends on it. It will be the end of his second term before knowing if it works or not. The promise of insurance to the 31 million people currently uninsured, will not be fulfilled for years. What if the plan does not work? Read the rest of this entry »

Are They Economists or EconoNUTS?
February 19th, 2010I have been reading and trying to understand economics since college. The more I learn the less I know. Economics seems more about romance than science. Obama’s team says their economic policies rescued us from a second depression and created or saved millions of jobs. Are they nuts? Read the rest of this entry »
What If There Hadn’t Been a War with Iraq?
February 14th, 2010Joe Biden said that success in Iraq may be one of the great achievements of the Obama administration. Most of our soldiers will be home by summer and the Iraq government is doing well. What would the situation be today if we had not invaded Iraq? Read the rest of this entry »
