Can Anyone Answer These Healthcare Questions?

Monday, March 15th, 2010

I was debating healthcare with one of my liberal friends and it dawned on me, neither one of us has a clue as to what the bill really means. Like our congressmen, we have not read it or seen it. We only know the talking points we hear from both sides. There are some real questions that should be answered. Here is a list of mine. (more…)

Are Baby Boomers the Key to Economic Recovery?

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

We baby boomers are probably to blame for the economic crisis. There are too many of us and we represent the biggest consuming group ever. We borrowed to our hearts content and now cry, “uh-oh”. Because we will live way too long, we will be responsible for breaking Social Security and Medicare. But here’s the good news, we can save America from economic disaster. (more…)

Are They Economists or EconoNUTS?

Friday, February 19th, 2010

I have been reading and trying to understand economics since college. The more I learn the less I know. Economics seems more about romance than science. Obama’s team says their economic policies rescued us from a second depression and created or saved millions of jobs. Are they nuts? (more…)

Does “It Take a Village” or a Bureaucracy?

The senateĀ  just approved a plan permitting the government to borrow another 2 trillion dollars. We will now have a total national debt ceiling of 14.3 trillion dollars. I can’t get my mind around how much that really is, but I do have an interesting idea about how to spend the next trillion. (more…)

How do Banks Get Healed From Gigantism?

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Gigantism is a human condition where a person grows too large, creating multiple health problems. Surgery is required for healing. Banks “too big to fail” is an economic condition creating multiple problems for everyone else. Surgery is required for healing. Obama spent his first year in office enabling the problem, and thank goodness, he is starting his second year off by scheduling the banks for surgery. (more…)

Why is Small Business Not Hiring?

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

I am in business for myself. My number one goal, besides making a profit, is not having employees. I wonder how many other small business owners feel the same way? It’s no surprise that the unemployment rate hangs above 10%. The government is smothering small business. Too bad Obama only hires Ivy League academics with big business buddies for advisers. (more…)

Should We Fire Fannie and Freddie?

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Obama wants to tax the banks that received taxpayer dollars, even if they’ve paid it back. This plan is cheered by many as the latest round of bonuses are handed out to the bank executives. Why is it that no one complains about the taxpayer dollars wasted on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the bonuses given to those executives. Actually, why don’t we just get rid of Fannie and Freddie? By the way, Fannie Mae is not a candy store. (more…)
