2010 is a big election year. No one can question the importance of these elections considering all that our nation is dealing with. Most New Year’s resolutions are directed at our waistlines or wallets, but we need to make a few personal commitments concerning how we vote this year. I’m getting a little annoyed at the press who freely proclaim who is smart and who is not. There is more to intelligence than an Ivy League education. Thursday, November 19th, 2009David Brooks, columnist for the New York Times and a Republican, called Sarah Palin a joke on a recent television news program. Her book is out and the press is consumed with her. They say she cost McCain the chance to be President, she was not up to the task of a VP, she is unintelligent, and she is a disgrace to the Republican party. How wise are farm subsidies?

Why do we keep electing lawyers?
Monday, September 28th, 2009Does anyone find it odd that the Secretary of Agriculture is not a farmer but an attorney? The president and vice-president are lawyers. Most of the house and senate are lawyers. Is the Secretary of Health a medical professional? Nope. Is the Director of the CIA an expert in intelligence or war? Nope. Today the republicans are hoping the stimulus and healthcare fail because the next elections are just a year away. It’s all about getting reelected and keeping a party in power.
