What Should Be the Top 10 New Year’s Resolutions for Voters? (Part 1)

Saturday, January 2nd, 2010

2010 is a big election year. No one can question the importance of these elections considering all that our nation is dealing with. Most New Year’s resolutions are directed at our waistlines or wallets, but we need to make a few personal commitments concerning how we vote this year. I have listed my personal top ten resolutions for voters. (more…)

A Christmas Political Question- Would Jesus Be a Democrat or Republican?

Monday, December 21st, 2009

Some might wonder why I would bring Jesus into politics. Others would even question if Jesus should be a part of Christmas! After all, isn’t it really about Santa Claus? I confess to be both a political junkie and a follower of Jesus. I am not much into religion, but I do believe Jesus is the Higher Power. Regardless of my failures and hypocrisies, he is the center of life, politics, and certainly Christmas. So, if he were here today would he be a democrat or republican? (more…)

Who Is An Intelligent Politician?

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

Barack Obama is smart and Sarah Palin is dumb! Would anyone, other than stupid people, question this? I’m getting a little annoyed at the press who freely proclaim who is smart and who is not. There is more to intelligence than an Ivy League education. I would have agreed that Bill Clinton was smart, until he got nasty with a blue dress in the White House. (more…)

Is Sarah Palin a Joke?

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

David Brooks, columnist for the New York Times and a Republican, called Sarah Palin a joke on a recent television news program. Her book is out and the press is consumed with her. They say she cost McCain the chance to be President, she was not up to the task of a VP, she is unintelligent, and she is a disgrace to the Republican party. She is laughed at, but certainly not ignored. (more…)

Should Healthcare be Controlled by Politicians or Profit?

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

This is the real question for America. Do you want your healthcare controlled by Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi or Blue Cross Blue Shield? (more…)

Are we witnessing balloon boy politics?

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

We were mesmerized for hours wondering if poor 6 year old Falcon was in the balloon made by his dad. Turns out it was a hoax. Reading through the headlines this morning makes me wonder about political hoaxes. Why are we so gullible with this stuff? (more…)

How wise are farm subsidies?

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Every January I get a check from the government for $500. I get it for not raising tobacco on my farm in Tennessee. I haven’t  farmed in over 30 years. Understanding the horrible consequences of tobacco, I think I deserve at least $5,000 per year for not growing it. (more…)

Why do we keep electing lawyers?

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Does anyone find it odd that the Secretary of Agriculture is not a farmer but an attorney? The president and vice-president are lawyers. Most of the house and senate are lawyers. Is the Secretary of Health a medical professional? Nope. Is the Director of the CIA an expert in intelligence or war? Nope. Is the Secretary of Commerce a business person? Nope. They are all lawyers. What are we thinking? (more…)

Do politicians want America to fail?

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

When W was president many democrats were hoping that the War in Iraq and the economy would go bad. Both did and now we are led be the dems. Today the republicans are hoping the stimulus and healthcare fail because the next elections are just a year away. It’s all about getting reelected and keeping a party in power. This is treasonous to me. Why are we not screaming mad? As a nation we are going to be 0-4 on huge issues. There is something that we can do. (more…)

Would Brett Favre make a good politician?

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

I’m a huge Favre fan and I am shocked at the level of negativity about his becoming a Viking (minus the people in Wisconsin). They say he can’t be trusted, he only thinks about himself, it’s all about the money, and he’s too old. Hey, he would make a great politician!
