Now that healthcare reform is almost reality, it’s time to identify the winners and losers. Overall, I feel the nation is a loser on this one. Big government programs usually result in massive corruption, mind-boggling inefficiencies, and shameful amounts of waste. And now we’re giving them our healthcare to manage? Yikes! Drilling down into the specifics we find the real winners and losers. It is interesting that the uninsured are both! (more…)

Who are the Winners and Losers in Healthcare Reform?
Saturday, December 26th, 2009Do We Want a Welfare State?
Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009Medicaid is a program for people who can’t afford health insurance. Social Security is a program to provide retirement for seniors. Medicare is a program to give health insurance to seniors. Public schools is a program providing education for kids K-12. Smaller programs help the poor with housing and other basic needs. Now, congress is trying to make healthcare the next huge entitlement. As we slide deeper into a welfare state, is this a good thing? (more…)
Should Healthcare be Controlled by Politicians or Profit?
Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009This is the real question for America. Do you want your healthcare controlled by Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi or Blue Cross Blue Shield? (more…)
What is the Truth About the Latest Healthcare Plan?
Sunday, November 1st, 2009A few years ago I purchased a new car, and for the first time in my life, paid for an extended warranty. The salesman said it was a “bumper to bumper” warranty covering everything. Those 3 words turned into 3 pages of very small print in legal jargon by the time I signed. The harsh truth – the salesman promised more than he should have. I believe Pelosi and the Democrats are guilty of the same error with their healthcare promises. (more…)
If the government can’t handle the Swine Flu vaccination how will they manage healthcare?
Friday, October 23rd, 2009I don’t know who to fire for my Friday Firing. It appears the vaccination program to save the country from the H1N1 virus has been an utter failure by the government. They created the hysteria and now can’t deliver. I can tell you this, more people will die from Swine Flu than the number of government employees who will be held accountable for this debacle. This is the main reason I oppose government controlled healthcare.
How do you cut Medicare to pay for healthcare?
Sunday, October 11th, 2009When Obama said cuts to Medicare would help pay for healthcare, I chuckled. Politicians always promise reform with savings plus new and better services. It’s a joke. I have private insurance and I’m not old enough for Medicare. I really haven’t cared until now. (more…)
What’s good about rising healthcare costs?
Sunday, October 4th, 2009Kaiser Health reported the 3 main reasons for rising healthcare costs are technology, aging, and the ability to treat chronic illness. These are all good things! (more…)
Healthcare debate – what about HIPAA?
Thursday, September 10th, 2009HIPAA is the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability ACT that the government placed on health providers. It is all about privacy and nothing about healing the sick. This one act added billions to the costs of healthcare. When I register at my hospital I get extra papers to sign and a pager (just like at my favorite restaurant) that has a cute circle of red lights and a vibrator that signals when I am next. They aren’t allowed to call out my name. And the government is going to reduce costs? (more…)
Should we fear healthcare “Death Panels”?
Wednesday, August 19th, 2009There are no “Death Panels” in the healthcare bill, however, we should all fear if politics enters into the process of how healthcare is delivered. The real issue is who makes medical decisions. The only change this bill brings is that the government will lead in making decisions that your insurance company makes now. (more…)
What is missing from the healthcare debate?
Sunday, August 16th, 2009I have always been against big federal programs, but I am now very concerned about uninsured people, outrageous healthcare costs, and the fear of losing my insurance. One thing could be added to the debate that might win me over – (more…)
