Should More Women Be in Politics?

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

I’m not just any man. I was raised on a farm in Tennessee with all brothers. The men did the outside work and my poor mother did all the cooking, washing, and all other inside work. She never lifted a single bale of hay and I never washed a single plate. I am a conservative and feminists would hate me if they knew me. With that said, I believe we need more women in politics and leadership. (more…)

Healthcare Question – Can Uncle Sam Outperform Sam Walton?

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

Since Barack Obama has been president the government has taken over auto companies and banks. Now our democrat leaders hope to give the government the biggest industry yet – healthcare. They say private insurance companies are only interested in profit, and thus, incapable of managing healthcare needs and priorities. In other words, Uncle Sam’s business model can outperform Sam Walton’s in meeting the needs of people. (more…)

How Do You Get a Standing Ovation at a Worldwide Climate Change Meeting?

Friday, December 18th, 2009

Leaders from 192 nations have met in Copenhagen to plan how to deal with global warming. The comment that got a standing ovation was from Hugo Chavez who said, “capitalism is the road to hell….let’s fight against capitalism and make it obey us.” That said, they rose to their feet and cheered. This is the real issue surrounding climate change. The issue is not about glaciers or polar bears, its about government and power. (more…)

What is More Important in Economics- National Policy or Local Action?

Friday, November 13th, 2009

As Wall Street rejoices over economic “recovery”, main street continues to reel over the pain and fear of unemployment.  The formula for recovery appears to be this – give trillions to Wall Street and stocks will rise. I have higher expectations for recovery. National policy has fallen short once again. Local action is the answer for unemployment and real recovery. (more…)

Should Healthcare be Controlled by Politicians or Profit?

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

This is the real question for America. Do you want your healthcare controlled by Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi or Blue Cross Blue Shield? (more…)

What is the Truth About the Latest Healthcare Plan?

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

A few years ago I purchased a new car, and for the first time in my life, paid for an extended warranty. The salesman said it was a “bumper to bumper” warranty covering everything. Those 3 words turned into 3 pages of very small print in legal jargon by the time I signed. The harsh truth – the salesman promised more than he should have. I believe Pelosi and the Democrats are guilty of the same error with their healthcare promises. (more…)

If the government can’t handle the Swine Flu vaccination how will they manage healthcare?

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

I don’t know who to fire for my Friday Firing. It appears the vaccination program to save the country from the H1N1 virus has been an utter failure by the government. They created the hysteria and now can’t deliver. I can tell you this, more people will die from Swine Flu than the number of government employees who will be held accountable for this debacle. This is the main reason I oppose government controlled healthcare.

Is Small Business Obama’s Cinderella?

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

You know the story. The evil step mother and the two ugly step sisters take advantage of the beautiful and neglected Cinderella. This is a metaphor of our economic times. In my story the evil step mother is big government and the ugly step sisters are banks too big to fail and fat Wall Street companies. Obama is the cool Prince and small business is Cinderella. (more…)

Which is more important, Wall Street or Main Street?

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

According to Obama the economy is in recovery. According to me the economy still sucks. Who is right? The answer depends on your street perspective. Are you living on Wall Street or Main Street? (more…)

How do you cut Medicare to pay for healthcare?

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

When Obama said cuts to Medicare would help pay for healthcare, I chuckled. Politicians always promise reform with savings plus new and better services. It’s a joke. I have private insurance and I’m not old enough for Medicare. I really haven’t cared until now. (more…)
