Why is Race the Most Important Issue?

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Millions are out of work, the country is trillions in debt, Afghanistan is worsening, and the future looks bleak. The good news is that America elected it’s first black president and the race issue is now on the back burner, right?

Only in politics and the press is racism the supreme issue of the land. I am really getting sick of it. I am not saying that there is not a problem with race, there is, and always will be as long as people are different. Race has now become the lens that every issue is viewed through.

If one disagrees with Obama it is because of race. If an illegal immigrant is arrested it is because of race. The NAACP declared officially a couple of weeks ago that the Tea Party was racist. If this trend continues our country will never return to it’s greatness.

We need to change the tone and direction of the race discussion. I have a suggestion on where to start. Take race out of the census. The only question asked about the people living in a household was what color they were.

A final suggestion for everyone is to grow a spine. If the worst thing that happens is someone calls you a derogatory name, then life is really pretty good. It wasn’t that many generations ago that there were lynchings and slavery. This is no longer happening. Progress is being made toward reducing race discrimination with education and toleration continuing.

The most racist thing that can be done today is this – point your finger at another person or group and call them racist.

What Will Blago’s Illinois Corruption Trial Mean for Obama?

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

I live in Chicago and the trial of our famous governor, Rod Blagojevich, has begun. Rod’s lawyers tried to subpoena Obama but the judge said no. They did successfully subpoena Rahm Emanuel and Valerie Jarret, two key members of Obama’s inner circle and fellow Chicagoan’s. This trial could get ugly, or juicy, depending on your perspective. Is Adding 3 Inches Covered in Healthcare Bill?

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Almost everyday I get ads sent to my email offering pills that will grow my manhood an additional 3 inches. Thinking about the ongoing serious healthcare debate, it makes me ponder some questions. It’s also time to take a humorous look at an odd healthcare possibility. And we know how important sex is in Washington. (more…)

What Should Be the Top 10 New Year’s Resolutions for Voters? (Part 2)

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

Are you looking forward to the 2010 elections? No, I was afraid of that. I’m dreading the advertisements and the process but we must participate, both local and national. In my last article I gave you the first 4 New Year’s resolutions for voters. The next few are pretty deep. I hope you have your waders and goggles! (more…)

A Christmas Political Question- Would Jesus Be a Democrat or Republican?

Monday, December 21st, 2009

Some might wonder why I would bring Jesus into politics. Others would even question if Jesus should be a part of Christmas! After all, isn’t it really about Santa Claus? I confess to be both a political junkie and a follower of Jesus. I am not much into religion, but I do believe Jesus is the Higher Power. Regardless of my failures and hypocrisies, he is the center of life, politics, and certainly Christmas. So, if he were here today would he be a democrat or republican? (more…)

Who Is An Intelligent Politician?

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

Barack Obama is smart and Sarah Palin is dumb! Would anyone, other than stupid people, question this? I’m getting a little annoyed at the press who freely proclaim who is smart and who is not. There is more to intelligence than an Ivy League education. I would have agreed that Bill Clinton was smart, until he got nasty with a blue dress in the White House. (more…)

Is Sarah Palin a Joke?

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

David Brooks, columnist for the New York Times and a Republican, called Sarah Palin a joke on a recent television news program. Her book is out and the press is consumed with her. They say she cost McCain the chance to be President, she was not up to the task of a VP, she is unintelligent, and she is a disgrace to the Republican party. She is laughed at, but certainly not ignored. (more…)

Why do we keep electing lawyers?

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Does anyone find it odd that the Secretary of Agriculture is not a farmer but an attorney? The president and vice-president are lawyers. Most of the house and senate are lawyers. Is the Secretary of Health a medical professional? Nope. Is the Director of the CIA an expert in intelligence or war? Nope. Is the Secretary of Commerce a business person? Nope. They are all lawyers. What are we thinking? (more…)

How about a Death Party campaign?

Saturday, August 15th, 2009

America needs a third party, something more specific than “Independents”. Based on where our country is going, I propose the Death Party to battle the Dems and Repubs. (more…)
